1. How thick are your cement and terrazzo tiles ?

Our standard squared shape tiles are between 1.6 cm (16 mm) and 2 cm (20 mm) thick. Terrazzo tiles’ thickness may vary according to dimensions.

2. How long will it take for me to get my tiles if I order ?

If it is in stock tile, we ship within 4 days inside Lebanon. Custom orders require approximately 5 weeks, depending on the product/collection. Custom tile is made to order for you, and ship direct from the factory as soon as they are ready.

If you have a firm schedule, and if you wish to get your shipment outside Lebanon, please contact us as early as possible with the size, location and details of your project.

3. Do you ship to my country (beyond Lebanon) ?

Beside producing out own products from the factory in Lebanon, we also work with tile makers in several countries, so we can ship world-wide. It is not always practical to send small orders on long distances though.
If you are outside Lebanon, please call us on +961 1 499 199 or email info@mada.boutique with some information about your project’s size, location, and schedule, so we can find the best solution for your needs.

4. What rooms are cement and terrazzo tiles used in ?

Because of their elegant designs, cement and terrazzo tiles are a great choice for and are often used in every room in the house.  They are also perfectly suited for restaurants and hotels with specific themes and styles.

Kitchen and bathrooms are often tiled wall-to-wall, even under cabinets and fixed appliances.

5. May I order a custom design or custom colors ?

Yes. You are welcome at Mada boutique prior to an appointment and we will guide you how to use our tile design tools with which you can create your own patterns or email us your design on info@mada.boutique, and you can also specify and create your own tile colors to match your needs.

6. Are these painted tiles ?

No, the color in cement tile is not painted on the surface, but rather is an integral part of the top layer of the tile body (around 0.5cm thick). The color is hand-poured; the natural mineral pigments are mixed into the cement, and each color mix is poured into the color regions of a specially-made pattern mold.

7. Can you tell me how many tiles to order from my project ?

Yes, we can study your project with your tile contractor to calculate how many sqaure meters you might need. We also have architectural plans service.
In all cases, we recommend ordering a minimum of 10%-15% over your installation size, because you might loose some portion to cuts along the edge, as well as accidental breakage. Remainders of the tiles ordered can be placed in an attic or other storage space, so that you have matching tiles for repairs in the future.

NOTE: It is strongly advised that all of the tile needed for a project be ordered at one time. Any shortages will be subject to lead times at that present time. Colors will not precisely match up to an original order.

8. Where should I not use cement and terrazzo tiles?

We do not recommend using it outdoors in places that freeze in winter. Care must be taken when using it in areas that will get wet and might cause a slip hazard. Cement and concrete tile is not made to withstand the weight of vehicles and therefore should not be used in  driveways. At present, we do not recommend using our tiles in pools because some pools chemicals interact with the cement in the tiles.

9. Do I need to seal my floor? What type of sealer should I use?

Yes, cement tiles need to be sealed. Like natural stone, cement is a porous material that absorbs stains and dirt if not sealed.
Consult with your tile contractor or installer regarding the best sealer for your project.

10. How do I maintain and clean my hand made cement and terrazzo tiles?

The tiles should be cleaned with pH-neutral soap and water. Do not use any acids or bleach on these tiles! If sealed with a topical sealer, they may need to be resealed every couple of years.

11. Will the floor be stained by soda, wine or acids?

If it is correctly sealed, it will not absorb stains. Soda, wine, acids, etc. should not be left to sit on the tile as they will eventually eat through the sealer and stain the tile. Check our Cement Tile Product Certificate for Absorption Capacity and Flexural Strength
